How to cancel subscriptions on iPhone, iPad, Mac and more

Updated · CancelCost
Applies to: Subscriptions billed by Apple (App Store apps and Apple services) in the US. Merchant-billed apps that never used Apple billing are out of scope.

In the US (as of 2026-10-18), Apple Support documents canceling Apple-billed subscriptions on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Vision Pro, Android (account.apple.com) and the web. On iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → the subscription → Cancel Subscription (Apple Support: Cancel a subscription).

If there is no Cancel button or you see an expiration message in red, the subscription is already canceled. If it is not listed, check the Apple Account on the receipt, ask a family member if needed, or cancel with the company on your statement.

Deleting an app never cancels an Apple subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before a free trial ends if you do not want it to renew.

How to cancel an Apple subscription

On iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Settings and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap the subscription, then Cancel Subscription (scroll if needed).

On Mac

  1. Open the App Store and click your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
  2. Click your name on the account page, then Subscriptions.

If you cannot find it

  1. Search email for “receipt from Apple” or “invoice from Apple” and note the Apple Account.
  2. Sign in with that account, or ask the family member on the receipt to cancel.
  3. If there is no Apple receipt, check your bank/card statement and contact that company.

How to confirm it worked

You're done when:

  • The subscription shows an expiration date (or no Cancel button / red expiration text).
  • No new Apple charge posts after that date.

Common problems

  • Already canceled. Red expiration text or no Cancel button (Apple Support).
  • Wrong Apple Account or family member’s purchase. Use the account on the receipt.
  • Merchant billing. Cancel outside Apple.
  • Trial about to convert. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends (Apple Support).

What we checked

Verified on official Apple Support (October 18, 2026): iPhone/iPad/Mac/Windows/Vision Pro/Android/web cancel steps; already-canceled signals; family-member and other-account guidance; bank/card + contact company; trial 24-hour note on HT118428.

Left out: Apple Watch / Apple TV menu paths not listed on HT118428; inventing immediate trial cut-off rules beyond Apple’s 24-hour guidance.
