How to cancel subscriptions on Google Play (Android or computer)

Updated · CancelCost
Applies to: Subscriptions billed by Google Play in the US (Android phone/tablet or play.google.com). Merchant-billed subscriptions that do not appear in Play Subscriptions are out of scope.

In the US (as of 2026-10-18), Google Play Help says subscriptions renew each billing cycle until you unsubscribe. On Android, open Google Play Subscriptions, select the subscription, tap Cancel subscription, and follow the prompts; uninstalling the app does not cancel (Google Play Help: Cancel, pause, or change a subscription).

On a computer, open play.google.com subscriptions, click Manage, then Cancel subscription. After you cancel, you can still use what you already paid for until that period ends.

If the charge is not in Google Play Subscriptions, Play is not the biller—cancel on the merchant site or Apple instead.

How to cancel a Google Play subscription

On an Android phone or tablet

  1. Open the Google Play Store app and sign in with the Google Account that was charged.
  2. Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  3. Select the subscription, tap Cancel subscription, and follow the instructions.

On a computer

  1. Go to Google Play Subscriptions and sign in.
  2. Next to the subscription, click Manage, then Cancel subscription.
  3. Select a reason in the confirmation pop-up, then click Continue.

How to confirm it worked

You're done when:

  • The subscription shows as cancelled / ending on a date in Google Play Subscriptions.
  • You can still use it for the time already paid.
  • No new Play charge posts after that date.

Common problems

  • Uninstalled the app only. Google Play Help: uninstalling does not cancel (Google Play Help).
  • Wrong Google Account. Switch accounts in the Play Store profile menu and check Subscriptions again.
  • Subscription not listed. Play is not billing it—cancel with the merchant or Apple.
  • Payment-plan remaining installments. Google Play Help: stopping auto-renew does not cancel remaining payments already owed on a payment plan.

What we checked

Verified on official Google Play Help (October 18, 2026): Android and computer cancel paths, uninstall-does-not-cancel, keep access for time already paid, pause option, and payment-plan note on answer/7018481.

Left out: brand-specific refund windows beyond Google’s general refund policies; claiming every app offers pause.

Pause instead of cancel

If the app supports it: Subscriptions → select plan → Manage Pause payments → choose a period → Confirm. Pause starts at the end of the current billing period (Google Play Help).

Resubscribe

Google Play Help: open Subscriptions and tap Resubscribe if the option is available (Google Play Help).
