Monthly billing can show a higher Unlimited rate (often about $12.99/month) - Confirm the toggle and checkout total. Cancel in account.proton.me → Settings → Subscription → Cancel subscription (Proton: manage subscription).
After cancel you keep paid features until the period ends, then the account moves to Proton Free. Uninstalling apps does not cancel.
Export anything you need from Drive/Mail before the paid period ends if you are dropping to Free storage limits.

How to cancel Proton Unlimited
If Proton bills you on the web
- Sign in at account.proton.me.
- Open Settings → All settings → Subscription.
- Choose Cancel subscription and confirm the prompts.
- Note the end date - you stay on Unlimited until then.
If Apple bills you
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Proton.
- Tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial), then confirm.
If Google Play bills you
- Open the Google Play Store app and tap your profile icon (top right).
- Tap Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
