Applies to: iCloud+ (50 GB, 200 GB, 2 TB, 6 TB or 12 TB) billed by Apple in the US, including storage that overlaps with Apple One. Family Sharing organizers and members are covered briefly.

In the US (as of 2026-10-18), iCloud+ costs $0.99/month (50 GB), $2.99/month (200 GB), $9.99/month (2 TB), $29.99/month (6 TB) or $59.99/month (12 TB) (Apple Support: iCloud+ plans and pricing). To cancel on iPhone with iOS 18.4 or later, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap iCloud+, then tap Cancel Subscription (Apple Support: Downgrade or cancel your iCloud+ plan).

The change takes effect after the current billing period ends. If you return to the free 5 GB plan, Hide My Email, Private Relay, Apple Invites and HomeKit Secure Video support stop. Download or delete content that exceeds your new storage before the change.

Deleting photos from your phone does not cancel iCloud+. Cancel or downgrade on the Apple Account that pays for storage. If storage comes from Apple One, manage Apple One first.

How to cancel or downgrade iCloud+

On iPhone (iOS 18.4 or later)

  1. Open Settings and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions, then tap iCloud+ under Active.
  3. To cancel, tap Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts.
  4. To keep a smaller plan, tap See All Plans, choose a plan, then follow the onscreen instructions.

On iPhone (iOS 18.0 to 18.3)

  1. Open Settings > your name > iCloud.
  2. Tap Manage Plan under iCloud+ Features.
  3. Tap Downgrade Options and enter your Apple Account password if asked.
  4. Select a new plan (the free 5 GB plan cancels iCloud+) and tap Done.

How to confirm it worked

You're done when:

  • Settings shows a blue check next to the new (or free) plan, or the subscription no longer set to renew.
  • Apple Support says the change takes effect after the current billing period ends.
  • You are not charged for iCloud+ after that date.

Common problems

  • Used storage is above the new plan. iCloud stops syncing and backups until you free space or upgrade again (Apple Support).
  • You only deleted the Photos app or signed out. That does not cancel. Use Subscriptions or Manage Plan.
  • Storage is part of Apple One. Cancel or change Apple One, or cancel the separate iCloud+ add-on if you have both.
  • You expected an immediate refund. Apple notes partial refunds where required by law; if you recently changed the plan, contact Apple within 14 days (Apple Support).

What we checked

Verified on official Apple Support (October 18, 2026): US prices $0.99 / $2.99 / $9.99 / $29.99 / $59.99 on plans and pricing; cancel and downgrade paths for iOS 18.4+, earlier iOS, Mac and Windows, effective at end of billing period, storage overrun behavior and loss of iCloud+ features on the free plan on Downgrade or cancel; cancel without a device via reportaproblem.apple.com on 121290.

Not verified - left out: carrier- or retailer-billed iCloud offers; exact Family Sharing member screens for every iOS version.

Storage warning before you cancel

Apple Support says that if your iCloud storage exceeds the new plan, iCloud will not sync or update your information and backups will not complete until you free space or upgrade. Apple Support recommends downloading or removing content above the new storage amount first (Apple Support).

Apple One overlap

If you pay for both Apple One and a separate iCloud+ plan, you can cancel the separate plan and use the iCloud+ storage included in Apple One (Apple Support). See also Apple One.

Refunds

Apple Support says partial refunds are available where required by law, and if you recently changed your iCloud+ plan you can contact Apple within 14 days (Apple Support). You can also use reportaproblem.apple.com.
