Heroku price (October 2026) and how to cancel
In the US (as of 2026-10-18), Heroku's pricing page lists Eco at $5/month (1,000 shared Eco hours), Basic at $7/dyno/month, Standard-1X $25, and Standard-2X $50, with Performance and Private higher. Stop billing by scaling dynos to 0, removing add-ons, and optionally closing the account (Heroku Dev Center: usage and billing; cancel Eco via account subscriptions).
Dynos accrue while scaled above zero even with no traffic. Uninstalling the CLI does not cancel.
Account owner / team admin required. Capture config vars and data before destroy.

How to cancel Heroku
Stop Heroku billing
- Sign in at dashboard.heroku.com.
- Open each app → Resources → scale web/worker dynos to 0.
- Remove paid add-ons (Postgres, Redis, etc.).
- Unsubscribe Eco if active, then close the account if you are done.
How to confirm it worked
You're done when:
- No dynos or paid add-ons remain.
- Eco unsubscribed and no new Heroku invoice posts.
Source: Heroku Dev Center: Usage & Billing.
Common problems
- Only slept an Eco dyno. Eco subscription can still renew.
- Left Postgres running. Add-on bills continue.
- Scaled one process type, not workers. Check formation.
- Team member without billing role tried to close.
What we checked
Verified on official Heroku pages (October 18, 2026): dollars on pricing; billing on Dev Center.
Eco vs Basic
Eco sleeps and shares hours; Basic stays always-on at a higher cap.
After cancel
Git remotes and apps are removed when you destroy/close - export first.
