In the US (as of 2026-10-18), Fly.io pricing is pay-as-you-go for new organizations (no monthly platform fee). The smallest always-on Machine is about $2.19/month in low-cost regions; Managed Postgres and optional Support (from about $29/month) add more. Stop charges by scaling to zero / destroying Machines and volumes, then remove the payment method or delete the organization (Fly.io Docs: billing).

Legacy Hobby subscriptions are discontinued for new customers. Uninstalling the CLI does not cancel billing.

Organization admin required. Snapshot/export data before you destroy volumes.

How to cancel Fly.io

Stop Fly.io billing

  1. Sign in at fly.io dashboard.
  2. Destroy or scale down Machines, volumes, IPs, and databases you no longer need.
  3. Cancel optional Support if subscribed.
  4. Remove the payment method or delete the organization when the balance is clear.

How to confirm it worked

You're done when:

  • No running/provisioned billable resources remain.
  • No new Fly.io invoice posts after that.

Common problems

  • Only stopped an app temporarily. Volumes/IPs can still bill.
  • Left Managed Postgres running. Large ongoing charge.
  • Non-admin tried to delete the org. Need owner role.
  • Expected a free tier. New orgs are PAYG after trial.
