In the US (as of 2026-10-18), Dropbox shows current Plus and Professional prices on its plans page with a monthly/yearly billing toggle; we left exact dollar figures out because the billing period behind the displayed price could not be confirmed. To cancel on dropbox.com, click your avatar in the bottom-left corner, click Manage account, click Cancel plan at the bottom of the page, choose a reason, then click Continue canceling or Confirm change (Dropbox Help: Cancel or change a Dropbox subscription).

Your account changes to free Dropbox Basic (2 GB) at the end of the current billing cycle and you won't be charged again. Downgrading is not the same as deleting your account.

If you store more than 2 GB, sort out your files before the paid period ends. Dropbox Basic stops syncing and uploading over the limit, and Dropbox may delete files you own if the account stays over.

How to cancel Dropbox

On dropbox.com

  1. Log in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the bottom-left corner, then Manage account.
  3. Click Cancel plan at the bottom of the page.
  4. Select a reason, then click Continue canceling or Confirm change and follow the prompts.

If you bought on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Settings app and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions, then Dropbox.
  3. Tap Cancel Subscription. No button or red expiration text means it is already cancelled.

If you bought on Android

  1. Open the Dropbox app and tap the Account tab.
  2. Tap Manage your subscription > How to cancel > Cancel plan.
  3. In Google Play, tap Cancel subscription.

How to confirm it worked

You're done when:

  • You get an email from [email protected] with the subject "Dropbox Plan will not renew" (dropbox.com cancellations).
  • In account settings > Billing, clicking Change next to Billing period shows "Plan downgrade scheduled".
  • At the end of the billing cycle the account is Dropbox Basic and you are not charged again.

Common problems

  • No Cancel plan button. You bought in an app store - use the iPhone or Android steps (Dropbox Help).
  • You deleted the app. That doesn't cancel the plan or delete the account.
  • Your card expired but you were still charged. Dropbox Help says your bank may have moved payments to the new card; an expired card doesn't cancel the plan.
  • Over 2 GB after downgrade. You may not be able to sync, upload, share, move or preview files; if the account stays over, Dropbox may delete files you own (Dropbox Help).
  • Cancelling by mail. Letters take longer; charges made before Dropbox processes the letter aren't refunded.

What we checked

Verified on official Dropbox Help (October 18, 2026): web cancel path, end-of-cycle downgrade to Basic, 2 GB Basic quota and over-limit effects, "Plan will not renew" email and "Plan downgrade scheduled" check, mail-cancel address on Cancel or change a subscription; iPhone and Android cancel paths and 30-day deleted-file retention on mobile cancel; most payments non-refundable, app-store refunds through the store, EU/UK/Turkey 14-day refunds on refunds.

Not verified - left out: exact Plus/Professional USD prices and billing period (old page claimed $9.99/$11.99/$199); the old Settings > Plan path; the claim that nothing is deleted when you downgrade.

Over the 2 GB Basic limit

Dropbox Help: Basic includes 2 GB. Over that quota you may not be able to sync, upload, share, move or preview files, and if the account remains over the limit Dropbox may delete files you own to bring it under (Dropbox Help). Download or move large folders before your paid period ends. Dropbox keeps deleted versions of files for 30 days (mobile article).

Refunds

Dropbox Help: in most cases Dropbox payments are not refundable. App Store or Google Play purchases are refunded through that store. In the EU, UK or Turkey you can get a refund if you cancel Plus, Family, Professional or Essentials within 14 days of purchase (Dropbox Help).
