How to cancel ChatGPT Plus (web vs App Store bills)
ChatGPT Plus on the web and Plus through the App Store are different bills - cancelling one never stops the other. For a plan bought on chatgpt.com, sign in, open Settings, go to Billing, and under Cancel plan choose Cancel (OpenAI Help: Canceling your ChatGPT subscription).
US list prices (checked 2026-10-18): Plus is $20/month (OpenAI Help: What is ChatGPT Plus?); Pro is $100, $200 or $500/month (OpenAI Help: Pro tiers). Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal so the next charge does not fire. Paid features stay until the period ends. Uninstalling the app does nothing to billing. Workspace Business/Team seats cancel from Workspace settings, not from a personal Plus screen.
OpenAI bills Plus on the platform where you subscribed. A web plan will not show up under Apple or Google Play, and an App Store plan will not cancel from chatgpt.com Settings.

How to cancel ChatGPT Plus
If you subscribed on chatgpt.com
- Sign in at chatgpt.com.
- Open the account menu, choose Settings, then Billing.
- Under Cancel plan, choose Cancel and confirm.
- Do this at least 24 hours before the next billing date so renewal does not process.
If Apple bills you
- On iPhone or iPad: Settings > your name > Subscriptions > ChatGPT.
- Tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial) and confirm.
- Deleting the ChatGPT account does not stop App Store billing - cancel in Settings first.
If Google Play bills you
- Open Subscriptions in Google Play with the Google Account that bought ChatGPT.
- Select ChatGPT, tap Cancel subscription, and finish the prompts.
- Uninstalling the app does not cancel Play billing.
If you have self-service ChatGPT Business / Team
- This is not the same as personal Plus. Open Workspace settings.
- Go to Billing > Manage plan > Cancel subscription.
- If Billing is missing, you are not the workspace owner - ask that person.
How to confirm it worked
You're done when:
- The platform that billed you no longer shows the plan set to renew (check Billing on chatgpt.com, or Subscriptions in Apple / Google Play).
- You cancelled at least 24 hours before the next billing date so the next charge does not process.

Common problems
- No Cancel on chatgpt.com. You are probably Apple- or Google-billed, or signed into the wrong ChatGPT account. Cancel in that store, or switch accounts.
- You only uninstalled the app. Billing continues (OpenAI Help).
- Charged after you cancelled. Often under the 24-hour cutoff, or a second Plus sitting on another platform.
- Deleted the ChatGPT account to stop Apple charges. App Store subscriptions survive account deletion - cancel under iPhone Settings first.
- Web Plus and App Store Plus both active. Cancel each one on its own platform; they do not cancel each other.
- Looking for Plus cancel inside a Business workspace. Team/Business seats use Workspace Billing, not the personal Plus Cancel plan screen.

Refunds
Cancellation stops future renewals but does not automatically refund past charges (OpenAI Help). For chatgpt.com or Google Play purchases, request a refund through OpenAI Support while signed in to the account that was charged. For App Store purchases, request a refund from Apple.
Go, Plus or Pro
Plus is the common individual upgrade at $20/month. Pro adds higher limits at $100, $200 or $500/month. Go is OpenAI's lower-cost paid plan with higher limits than Free - see What is ChatGPT Go? and the in-product pricing page for the current price. You can change or cancel from the same billing settings on the platform that bills you.
Frequently asked questions
Will cancelling wipe my chat history?
OpenAI Help does not say chats are deleted on cancel. You drop to Free limits when the paid period ends; keep the same login to keep history.
Is there a yearly Plus plan?
No. Go, Plus and Pro are monthly only per OpenAI Help.
I bought Plus on iPhone - can I cancel on the website?
No. App Store bills cancel only in iPhone Settings > Subscriptions. chatgpt.com Billing will not show that plan.
Plus vs Team - which cancel screen?
Personal Plus uses Settings > Billing > Cancel plan. Self-service Business/Team uses Workspace settings > Billing > Manage plan. They are separate products.
Why was I charged twice?
Often one web Plus and one App Store Plus. Cancel each on its own platform; refunds are a separate request.
