Medium Membership price (October 2026) and how to cancel
In the US (as of 2026-10-18), Medium's Become a Member help lists Member at $5/month or $50/year and Friend of Medium at $15/month or $150/year. Cancel in Settings → Membership and payment → Cancel your membership on the web, or in Apple/Google Subscriptions if the store bills you (Medium Help: Manage).
You keep member benefits until the end of the billing cycle. Medium generally does not refund unused days. Uninstalling the Medium app does not cancel.
If Settings has no Cancel option, you are signed into an account that does not hold the membership - sign in with the email that bought it.

How to cancel Medium Membership
If Medium bills you on the web
- Sign in at medium.com with the member account.
- Open Settings → Membership and payment.
- Click Cancel your membership, answer any survey prompts, and Confirm cancellation.
- Note the end of the billing cycle.
If Apple bills you
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Tap Medium.
- Tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial), then confirm.
If Google Play bills you
- Open the Google Play Store app and tap your profile icon (top right).
- Tap Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
- Select Medium.
- Tap Cancel subscription, pick a reason and confirm.
How to confirm it worked
You're done when:
- Membership settings or the store shows membership ending / not renewing.
- No new Medium charge posts after that date.

Common problems
- Only deleted the Medium app. Billing continues.
- Signed into the wrong Medium account. Cancel requires the account that holds the sub.
- Cancelled on Medium when Apple billed you. Use Apple Subscriptions.
- Expected a mid-cycle refund. Medium states fees are generally nonrefundable.
